Disney
Art History
Everyone needs a serious hobby.
Putting my art historian sleuthing skills to work at the happiest places on Earth, searching for all the hidden art and architectural references and models for Disney Imagineers.
Ever wondered why Sleeping Beauty looks like a medieval manuscript? Or how The Haunted Mansion channels 19th-century spirit photography?
You've come to the right place!
Disney loves Art History!
Come along with me as I locate more references to art and architecture from across the world.
I've spent more than 20 years collecting art history references at Disneyland, and in the past few years, I've realized there are probably other people (beyond my students) who would enjoy locating these very specific things in Disney attractions, queues, stores, and lands. I'm also looking at Walt Disney World and Disney animation, and Pixar movies.
If you like finding hidden Mickeys, then you will probably enjoy this—with just a little bit more historical awesomeness.
